SEO For Accountants?

There’s a lot of mystique surrounding SEO: algorithms, on page content, meta, page speed insights, the list goes on and the simple fact is that the vast majority of businesses who aren’t SEO professionals, especially accountants, can ignore all of this and focus on something that’s very easy to understand. Numbers!

I’m going to begin with one very simple statistic. 93% of ALL online experiences begin with a search engine. Take that in tandem with the fact that, on Google, the number 1 search result gets 33% of ALL the clicks. We are talking about a staggering amount of traffic which converts directly into lead generation. What difference could that have on a business?

We’ve been doing cross industry research in the UK – because at First Position SEO we really know how to live. It turns out that accounting generates the following 3 average monthly searches:

  1. Accountant: 8,100 average monthly searches
  2. Accounting: 6,600 average monthly searches
  3. Accountants: 3,600 average monthly searches

That’s over 18,000 searches per month. Every month! To put a little more perspective on it, there are currently somewhere in the region of 5,800 registered audit firms in the UK – but there’s only room for 10 of them on the first page of Google search results.
